THE Vice-Chairman for the Premier League Board (PLB), Mr George Amoako, has revealed to The Finder that the prize money for the winner of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League has not been decided yet.

Wa All Stars took home $30,000 as winners of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League. However, with the commencement of the league last weekend, the prize money for this year’s league is still unknown.

The vice-chairman said, “it has not been decided yet, how much will be given to the winner of the league this year. We are looking for the money before we can decide how much the winner will take”.

Mr Amoako also stated that more games will be televised live on match days in the Ghana Premier League in subsequent years.

He said, “As part of the partnership deal with StarTimes, more games in the Ghana Premier League will be televised live on match days in subsequent months as StarTimes has promised to deliver more Outside Broadcasting (OB) vans”.

“For now we have only two matches that will be televised that is why the matches have been scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays”.

“We cannot have all our matches covered live in this part of the world because we don’t have the resources to do that now. That’s why we cover two matches at a time in a week until more OB vans are brought in subsequent years”, he added.

Concerning hooliganism and crowd violence, he said, due to the nature and structure of the Premier League Board which involves the players, clubs and supporters, the PLB is able to educate all the stakeholders and especially with the help of the security forces to kerb the issue of hooliganism.
