A legal practitioner in Kumasi, Nana Yaw Osei has charged government to institute a commission to investigate circumstances surrounding the death of ex-President John Evans Atta Mills.
He noted that two years after the demise of the former president, several stories had emerged in relation to his untimely death.
“The stories about the death of the late president look sketchy and this had paved the way for the public to give their own narration which is not in good taste,” he disclosed told Angel Fm in an interview.
Nana Yaw Osei stated that the current Mahama administration should boldly set up a commission of inquiry to investigate circumstances that led to the death of the late president.
The immediate-past chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for the Ashanti Region was of the view that Ghanaians were confused over his death.
“Ghanaians are still confused, rumours relating to what happened in the few hours that President Mills died keep popping up each day,” he disclosed.
Nana Yaw Osei said there were some reports that the late President Mills was not rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after he collapsed.
He added that other rumours indicated that the former President was sent to a maternity ward before he was conveyed to the right place at the hospital.
Nana Yaw Osei said speculations about the death of Mr. Mills were unbecoming.
It is important that President Mahama set up a commission to investigate the dicey issue as soon as possible, the ex-GJA Chairman indicated.
Nana Yaw Osei noted that if President Mahama fails to institute a commission to investigate the issue, a different government would do so in future.
