Professor Goski Alabi, a former Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has urged the Deputy Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Bossman Asare, to leverage his expertise in global leadership to ensure peaceful, transparent, and credible elections in Ghana.
Speaking at a reunion of the 2012 graduating class of the Master of Philosophy in Global Leadership program, Prof. Alabi emphasised the significance of transparent elections in addressing Ghana's leadership challenges and improving the nation’s global standing.
“Our leader Dr. Bossman, we trust that your leadership would bring great transformation to our country, Ghana.
“Always remember that as a global leader, the world is looking up to you. And we trust that in this coming elections, for the role you are playing in leading mother Ghana, you would ensure that there would be transparent, peaceful, and very effective elections so that the people of Ghana would enjoy the benefits of global leadership,” she said.
She further highlighted the need for integrity and peace in leadership, especially during a time when many citizens are grappling with economic hardships and social unrest.
“Transparency is a core element of leadership. Any compromise in this regard could jeopardize Ghana’s peace and stability,” she added, the report said.
The meeting, held in Accra, marked the first-ever reunion of the program’s inaugural cohort and served as a platform to celebrate achievements and discuss strategies for societal transformation.
Prof. Collins Ahorlu, chairman of the alumni group, commended Prof. Alabi for her mentorship and pledged the group’s commitment to contributing to Ghana’s development through their collective expertise.
Alhaji Yussif Baba Suleman, coordinator of the alumni group, outlined their vision to combine research, experience, and knowledge to address leadership challenges in Ghana and across Africa.
During the event, a special citation was presented to Prof. Alabi in recognition of her pioneering role in establishing the UPSA Graduate Leadership Program. Dr. Ashiboe Mensah, another former lecturer, was also honored for his contributions to the program.
In his address, Dr. Mensah encouraged the alumni to incorporate active listening into their leadership practices, emphasising it as a vital tool for effective leadership.
