The Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills says the NPP Government is unable to pay moneys due to second cycle schools because it has been misapplying the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund), which the NDC Administration instituted for them.
Professor Mills who is on a campaign tour of the Agona District said the GETFund was instituted to ensure that second cycle and tertiary institutions operate smoothly but said it is now being used wrongly. He said for this reason, secondary schools are facing serious financial problems and this has forced the headmasters to threaten to send their students home.
Prof Mills also said that the NPP Government has been a dismal failure as it has been unable to fulfil the campaign promises it made to the good people of Ghana.
Prof Mills therefore asked Ghanaians to do serious introspection and send the NPP back into opposition with the power of their thumb in 2004 for broken promises. The National organizer of the NDC, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said the NPP Government is showing that it is more prepared to subordinate the interest of Ghana to the dictates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by its decision to go ahead with the sale of the Ghana commercial Bank.
He called on Ghanaians to vote for Prof Mills in the 2004 Presidential Elections to enable him to take Ghana out of its present economic predicament.
