The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace. The Asantehene offered words of wisdom, emphasizing the importance of humility, respect, and peaceful elections in Ghana’s democratic process.

During her visit to the Manhyia Palace, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was warmly welcomed by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The Asantehene, known for his impartial stance on national issues, shared invaluable advice with the NDC running mate, encouraging her to remain humble and respectful as she navigates her political career.

He reminded her of the humility and leadership she displayed during her tenure as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cape Coast, urging her to maintain those qualities.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II also reiterated his open-door policy, stating that Manhyia Palace welcomes all political parties, and he remains neutral in the political landscape.

He further stressed the significance of free, fair, and peaceful elections, urging all political candidates to accept the election results gracefully and avoid any actions that could destabilize the country.

In response, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her profound appreciation for the Asantehene’s wise counsel and assured him of her commitment to upholding the principles of humility and respect in her political journey. She also requested his continued guidance as she embarks on this national endeavour.

Following her meeting with the Asantehene, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and her delegation met with Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The Asantehemaa emphasized the importance of advocating for women’s issues as Ghana approaches the December 7 elections. She encouraged Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to champion the cause of women and ensure that their voices are heard in the political discourse.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang thanked the Asantehemaa for her support and promised to prioritize the concerns of women, both in her campaign and in governance, should the NDC emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
