Professor Andam appointed Ekumfi Ahmadiyya School Board Chairman

Ekumfi Essarkyir, May 10, GNA - Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer and Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, has appointed Professor Kwesi Akwansah Andam, Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Ekumfi T.I. Ahmadiyya Secondary School at Ekumfi Essarkyir in the Central Region.

He succeeds the late Mohammed Quaino, who died early this year. Mr Mumuni Issah Dimbie, Headmaster of the school announced the appointment at a meeting of the school's Parent Teacher Association at the weekend.

Mr Dimbie said the appointment of Prof. Andam, a citizen of Ekumfi was in recognition of his valuable services to the school and education in the traditional area.

He said the post of Chairman of the Board had been the preserve of a Muslim acting on behalf of the Ameer, but even though Pro. Andam was a Christian, Maulvi Adam saw in him the qualities needed to promote the development of the school.

The headmaster appealed to the PTA to give its maximum cooperation to Prof. Andam to enable him to deliver.

Mr Dimbie said much as the school would uphold the rights of the child, the authorities would not compromise on indiscipline. "We will instil discipline, which parents, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission and the nation want," he said.

He urged parents to abide strictly by the visiting hours of the school and cautioned them against giving large sums of money to their wards as pocket money.

The Headmaster appealed to the PTA to provide the school with polytanks to help solve the perennial water problem facing the students. He also appealed for tables and chairs for the school's computer laboratory.

Mr John Kingsman Aidoo, PTA Chairman, commended the Headmaster and staff for the good work they were doing and appealed to the parents to help motivate them.
