Former President Dramani Mahama has extolled his late predecessor, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, describing him as a “man of great moral courage and strength”.

According to President Mahama, the former leader remains a source of inspiration to him and the entire nation Ghana.

Mr Mahama in a twitter message on Friday eulogized the former National Democratic Congress leader to mark his 73rd birthday.

Professor John Evans Atta Mills passed away July 24, 2012, three days after his 68th birthday at the 37 Military Hospital after battling throat cancer.

Former President Mahama who served as Vice President under the late Mills' administration shared an accompanying photo of late Mills to his twitter message.

Every year, a ceremony is marked at the Asomdwee Park in Accra, where the late president was laid to rest to commemorate his demise.

This year’s memorial celebration will be the first under the NPP, Akufo-Addo-administration.

Meanwhile, the members of the opposition National Democratic Congress is fired up to celebrate the anniversary in grand style.
