Promoting Pan Africanism central to government

Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has expressed government’s determination to continue to use Ghana as a platform for promoting Pan-African ideas and ideals.

“Government will continue to use Ghana as a platform and venue for Pan Africanism and the African renaissance,” she said.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said this at the closing ceremony of the African Union (AU) @ 50 High Level Africa Forum to mark the 10th Edition and 21st Anniversary PANAFEST/Emancipation day celebration on Sunday.

The forum was on the theme: “Pan Africanism and the African Renaissance – the unfinished agenda. She said when the theme for the AU @ 50 celebrations: “Pan Africanism and the

African renaissance was selected, government immediately submitted request to host the event.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said: “I can state without fear of contradiction that Ghana remains ever ready to play its role as in pursuing the goals that have been identified at this forum.

“We will ensure the appropriate follow-ups are done in order to share the insightful recommendations of the forum with all AU member States and the Diaspora family.”

The minister said the many presentations and points of urgency raised on different platforms were indications that the agenda of Pan Africanism was being driven from the people, and called African leaders to recognise the trend and act accordingly.
