Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged his fellow Muslims in the country to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for God’s “grace and mercy” as Ghana and the rest of the world battle to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic.

Muslims all over the world on Friday started the annual month-long Ramadan fast and the Vice President posted a message on his social media handles to wish Muslims well.

“The holy month of Ramadan is here with us again. Hajia Samira and I wish our fellow Muslims a blessed Ramadan,” Dr. Bawumia wrote.

The month of Ramadan is a special month of devotion, and Muslims normally congregate for special prayers. But with the country and other parts of the world currently observing social distancing and suspension of mass religious gathering, the Vice President urged his fellow Muslims to continue to observe all the preventive measures put in place to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus.

“During this month of devotion, let us continue to observe all the COVID-19 preventive measures, and also pray to Allah to save Ghana and the world from this affliction.”

“May Allah accept our sacrifices and grant us and our nation His infinite grace and mercy.
Ramadan Mubarak.”
