Provide GBC with financial and logistical support - Chief

Awutu-Mankessim(C/R), Aug. 7, GNA - A member of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Kwao Otuo V, has called on the Government to provide adequate financial and other support to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to enable it to operate efficiently.

Nai Otuo, who was a member of the 1992 Constituent Assembly, was addressing the Council of Elders and other opinion leaders at Awutu Mankessim as part of the annual Akomasi festival of the area, recalled the vital role of the Corporation over the years.

He stated that GBC had been making important contribution towards national development but still faced many challenges. Nai Otuo said this was the time for the corporation to be provided with resources to continue its educative programmes to promote national development.

He commended the first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, for the moral and financial support he gave the GBC during his reign and advised workers not to be daunted but to feel proud of the 70 years of laudable achievements of the Corporation for other broadcasting network to emulate.

Nai Otuo who was a Pastor of the African Faith Tabernacle assured the management and staff of the Corporation of the Traditional Council's support and urged the workers to continue working hard. 08 Aug 05
