Provide good counselling - Church leaders urged

Bonwire (Ash.), April 18, GNA - Church leaders have been asked to be a more dependable source of good counselling not only to their congregation but the society as well. The Reverend Tony Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Assemblies of God Church, who made the call said that to enable them to do this there was the need for them to be pure at heart to have a deeper spiritual relationship with God.

He was preaching on the theme "The Pillar in the House of God" at the induction of the Reverend Daniel Owusu, as the District Pastor of the Church for Ejisu-Juaben, at Bonwire on Sunday. Rev. Amoakohene noted that leadership carried with it enormous responsibility and asked those in such positions to avoid hypocrisy and to do what was right in the sight of God. "It is important that you show strong resolve to work diligently to earn recognition from God and not man".

He reminded the new District Pastor to work harder to spread the Gospel in the area and to convert more souls for God. Rev. Amoakohene also advised members of the Church to support him spiritually, morally and physically. Mr Kofi Duah-Adonteng, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Post Company and a member of the Church, expressed his happiness about the growth of the Church in the area.

"The congregation of the Bonwire Faith Assemblies of God-Church have every reason to be grateful to God for what he has done". Mr Duah-Adonteng advised Christians to let society see the "Christ-like" life in them. Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport, was among those who attended the service.

Rev. Owusu has for the past 20 years been in charge of the Bonwire Society of the Church. He would serve a two-year term.
