The Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kwame Owusu has dared Journalists to provide pictorial evidence of the hotel he is alleged to have built in his hometown.

Mr. Owusu said this in response to allegations suggesting he had misappropriated state funds to build a hotel in his hometown in less than two years of assuming office.

The Maritime Authority boss did not deny ownership of the hotel but emphatically dared whoever has evidence of the hotel to be bold and put out pictures for the public to see.

Mr. Owusu rubbished claims his outfit spent a whopping GHC10,652 on food for 8 people at the Luxe Suites Hotel for one night.

According to him, the GHC10, 652 was the total amount spent on several meetings including the management and stakeholder meetings on maritime security fees and charges at the head office.

He said the memo indicating such amount was used to cater 8 participants, was doctored in an attempt to defame him.

“If you’re able to steal document and falsify it, how come you cannot take a picture of a hotel that is in my village Ejisu Asotwe. I task you to go and take a picture of the hotel and show it in my friend’s whose television station has made it a job and put it this is the hotel,” furious Mr. Owusu said.

The Ghana Maritime Authority boss stressed, he is willing to offer transportation to any journalist who wishes to go to his hometown and take pictures of the supposed hotel as evidence.

“Some have made it a job that when the word GMA comes, they are happy they have to talk about it. I task you, if you need money, come and take it from me and go and bring that picture so that the world would know that I have amass wealth within this 17 or 18 months,” he maintained.
