The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has issued a strong directive to the University of Ghana, demanding the recovery of $383,000 from various debtors by the end of the year.

This action follows an Auditor General’s report that highlighted outstanding debts owed to the university by several institutions, some dating back over nine years.

The institutions listed as debtors include prominent companies and organisations such as Telecel Ghana, Airteltigo, MultiChoice, NABPTEX, Pro Credit Savings and Loans Limited (now Fidelity Bank), and Crystal TV, among others.

The report revealed that these entities have accumulated significant debts, which have remained unpaid for nearly a decade.

During a recent sitting in Parliament, the Public Accounts Committee emphasised the need for the university to take swift and decisive action to recover these outstanding amounts.
