Over 6,000 pupils in 15 schools in the Northern Region have received copies of a book that emphasises civic responsibility, moral uprightness, and personal care and development to help transform their lives to lead responsible lifestyles.

The 50-page book, which also seeks to help children become responsible leaders, is titled: “How to Make Good Choices,” a handiwork of Ron Hubbard, an American Philosopher and Humanitarian.

It is an extract of “The Way to Happiness” book.

The beneficiary pupils were from basic schools including Cheshegu, Kpachi, Kokpan, and Kpalga Primary and Junior High Schools (JHS) located in the Kumbungu District and the Sagnarigu Municipality.

Copies of the book were distributed to pupils by the Centre for Communities Education and Youth Development (CCEYD), an NGO, with sponsorship from Global Pioneers LLC, a United States-based organization.

Mr Ibrahim Abu, Executive Director of CCEYD, who spoke during the presentation of copies of the book to pupils in various basic schools including on Monday said: “The book will ensure a holistic change in children’s behaviour towards a lot of things as it is all about the happiness of children”.

Mr Abu said children needed to be guided to learn the right things, which were necessary for societal development, adding the book came in handy as it offered just that.

He said training would be organised for a number of teachers on the models of the book to aid teaching and learning in schools in the country.

Mr David Dahamani, Head Teacher of Cheshegu D/A JHS, described the book as important saying it offered lessons on good ways of preparing children for life.

Meanwhile, some traditional authorities in the communities where the schools were located also received copies of the book to learn about its lessons.
