The resignation of Deputy Minister of Agriculture, William Quaittoo, over ill comments which he has apologized and shown remorse for, will minimize the damage of the unfortunate ethnocentric comments he uttered, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has observed.

The former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources under the erstwhile Mahama administration who hails from the north said: “It will go a long way to assuage the pain and anger manifested by the effect of the statement on the people of the northern region and particularly of northern descent.”

According to him, he knows Mr Quaittoo and was sure the unfortunate comments were not made out of malice, indicating that he is satisfied that the MP for Akim Oda has taken actions to correct his wrongs.

“It will go a long way to also clean the heart of Quaittoo from what we perceive as deep seated resentment of people of northern extraction, particularly the people of the northern region.

“We are satisfied; I’m satisfied not because he has resigned, I’m satisfied because action has been taken by him. I’m satisfied because I know Quaittoo, he is a very good man, I have met him on several occasions and we communicate in Dagbani so why I’m satisfied is that he has taken responsibility for his own act,” he said on Wednesday, August 30 in an interview with Joy FM.
