Takoradi, Sept. 7, GNA 96Dr. Ronald Sowah, Western Regional HIV/AIDS Coordinator, on Tuesday called for the establishment of Quality Assurance Unit in all health institutions to promote and health care in the country. He noted that improving patients care at hospitals across the country had become a major concern in achieving the medium term health strategy of the Ministry of Health. He said often clients of the various health facilities have complained about poor quality of service and reception offered by health attendants which had led to the lost of trust and confidence in the hospitals. Dr. Sowah told the GNA during a Quality Assurance workshop for health personnel in the Southern sector of the Region, that these purported negative attitudes and tendencies exhibited by health professionals indeed affected patients and health professionals' relation and quality health care in general. The workshop sponsored by FOCUS, an international NGO, with funding from USAID, aims at upgrading the knowledge of health personnel to improve performance and standards. Dr. Sowah noted that participants would be taken through the modalities of effective communication, which was key to quality service delivery. He noted that improving quality in the health sector called for collaborative effort on the part of management of facilities and therefore called for the creation of quality assurance unit in all facilities across the country.
