Nkoranza (B/A), May 2, GNA - Nana Yaa Dudaa Kani, Queen-mother of Nkoranza, has appealed to 93drinking bar" operators to prevent school children and persons aged below 18 years from patronising their bars. She said some 93drinking bar" operators blare loud music throughout the night in the communities, during which some youth engaged in excessive drinking and dancing.
Such practice induce the youth to engage in social vices such as alcoholism, pre-marital sex and 93wee" smoking, she said and cautioned parents to keep their children from such adult gatherings. Nana Kani was speaking to the management of Adantaase drinking spot at Nkoransafie at the weekend after the resolution of some cases involving some queen-mothers and elders at her palace. The queen-mother complained of the increasing number of teenage mothers in the communities, which she attributed to such 93negative" attitudes.
Nana Kani deplored the practice by some people, especially women, who invoke the wrath of gods and rivers to curse other people when conflicts or disputes arise and asked that practice should be stopped to allow peace to reign in the communities.
Some people call the names of gods as Bourtwerewa of Techiman and Fa Kwasi Abura river of Nkoranza and others to curse their neighbours over misunderstandings and conflicts, she noted.
The queenmother noted she had to go through a lot of ordeals in resolving such problems and rituals as they were spiritual and cautioned she would no longer tolerate anyone who would call the name of any god or river to curse a neighbour in the same community. In a way to lessen the pressure on her, Nana Kani said she had delegated the Adikrofo, other queen-mothers, unit committees as well as religious leaders to handle some administrative issues and advised people with such complaints to contact any of them to enhance peace and understanding in the area.
Meanwhile, elders of the queenmother have issued a warning that anyone who would invoke the wrath of a river god or the god Bourtwerewa to curse a neighbour would be fined an amount of GHC500.00 before the settlement of the case at the queenmother's palace.
