Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), cannot take an action to stop the implementation of the Representation of the People’s Amendment Act (ROPAA) 2006 [Act 699], a private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has said.

According to him, Mr Ayariga is not a party to the case and therefore, has no right to sue in the matter.

Ayariga has kicked against an order by the court to the Electoral Commission (EC) to implement the ROPAA.

The Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court gave the order after an 11-year delay in ROPAA’s implementation by the EC.

Per the law, Ghanaian citizens living abroad can take part in national elections in 2020.

But the APC leader has threatened “to stop the court from proceeding with its mandate and challenge the process which … because the process will not favour any opposition party”.

However, speaking on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class 91.3FM hosted by Moro Awudu on Thursday, December 21, Mr Anyenini, said: “He has no right at all” adding “ he is out, he is not a party to the case.”
