The Hilal Committee of Ghana said on the 30.10.2002 that the first sighting of the new moon for this year's Ramadan is Monday 29 of Sha'ban that is, November 4, 2002.
A statement from National Chief Imam and Ameer in in-charge of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana and signed by Sheikh M.M. Gedel, Acting Chairman of the Hilal Committee said if the new moon was sighted anywhere in Ghana on Monday November 4, fasting by all faithful would begin on the next day, November 5.
It said however, if the sighting of the new moon becomes impossible on November 4, which is the 29th day of Sha'ban then November 5, should be counted as 30th day of Sha'ban.
In that case, Wednesday November 6th, automatically becomes the first day of Ramadan.

All Muslims are encouraged to make it a sacred duty to sight the new moon and report accordingly.
