Rawlings Acquires Speed Boat, And....

Former President, Jerry Rawlings, has acquired and imported into the country, a powerful Dinghy (speedboat). The speedboat was cleared from the Tema Harbour on Tuesday, August 12, by his special assistant, Victor Smith, after Mr. Rawlings paid an import duty of over one hundred and ten million cedis ( ?110,235,025.00).

DAILY GUIDE investigation has also revealed that, the speedboat was brought in by the Ship, M/V Grande Brasile and was cleared together with other goods by Shiek Lines Shipping Agency.

The Daily Guide newspaper reports that as speedboats are rare goods imported into Ghana, it attracted a lot of attention. The paper says a team from the Ghana Navy and the Customs Excise and Preventive Service inspected the speedboat, and after the necessary examinations, it was taken away by his special assistant.

When Victor Smith was contacted for his comments, he declared that he would not react to any enquiries by the Daily Guide. According to him, the paper has chosen to align itself with what he called “the evil forces” for which reason, his office has decided not to have anything to do with the it.
