Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has described last Saturday's effusions by ex-President Rawlings and one of his lieutenant, Mr E.T. Mensah during a rally at Odododiodioo in Accra as "absolute rubbish and talks of stupid men."
He said Rawlings was a hypocrite and a liar who should not be taken serious. According to him, Rawlings should be the last man to describe others as evil doers involved in human blood spilling, stealing, murders and vote buying, when he had done worse things.
He said Rawlings had always said he had no money and yet a recent interview he granted "Ovation Magazine" exposed him as somebody who is wealthy. Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe asked: "where did Rawlings get the money from, to buy those vintage cars, boats, etc at his Ridge residence and houses at East Legon and the Volta Region?"
According to him, the house at East Legon has almost everything imported from abroad. He also asked where Rawlings got money from to educate his children at exclusive elite schools in the United Kingdom (UK). He recalled a $15,000 shopping Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings did at Shangri-La in Accra. "Where did she get that money from to buy just a flower vase?", Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe asked. He wondered why Rawlings could refer to someone as a tribalist when during his tenure of office "the whole Ghana Armed Forces was headed by people from a particular tribe." He said Rawlings and his colleagues of the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had had kids' glove treatment from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government. "If they had dealt with them (referring to Rawlings and the erstwhile NDC members of government) promptly, the courts would have marched them one by one to jail", Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said, stressing, "They were given too long a rope".
In reaction to E.T. Mensah's insinuation that Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe had used the name of Rawlings to collect money from a German in Lome resulting in him being arraigned before a court, the NPP firebrand responded, "that is a lie, the tribunal records are there, they should go and check."
He warned that the NPP would not allow its members to be intimidated during the up-coming Asawase Constituency bye-election in the Ashanti Region. "We hear they will bus people from Ashiaman, Nima, Mamobi, Kumasi and even the North to come and prevent our people from voting", said Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, warning that "we are prepared for them. We shall match them fire for fire". Last Saturday, Rawlings and his men descended on the Odododiodioo Constituency in a rally, raining insults on the NPP Government.
