Rawlings Off To Cape Town

Former President J J Rawlings left Accra Sunday night for Joburg on his way to Cape Town to honour an invitation extended to him by the Steve Biko Foundation of South Africa to participate in the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the death of Steve Biko.

The Steve Biko Foundation is hosting a year-long series of programs to celebrate the life and work of a leader who died at the age of thirty(30) years. President Rawlings together with six (6)other former African Heads of State will be engaged in discussion around issues of leadership and their impact on current developmental efforts on the continent which will be subsequently broadcast via SABC to 49 African Nations. The Steve Biko memorial Lecture will be delivered by the South African President Thabo Mbeki on September 12, 2007.

Flt Lt Rawlings, accompanied by Mrs Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and Dr Tony Aidoo, will be away for 5 days.
