Rawlings does not apply his own principles - Ogbamey

Managing Editor of the Gye Nyame Concord, Alfred Ogbamey, has opined that former President Jerry John Rawlings should not have only concentrated on the ‘bad side’ of ex-President Kufuor.

This comment follows the former President’s assertion that ex-President Kufuor monopolized corruption in his administration so much so that America had to send the CIA to warn him (Kufuor).

Giving his remarks on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Alfred Ogbamey indicated that the canker of corruption occurs in every government and so Mr. Rawlings should have also highlighted on the good side of the man he handed over to.

“I have said continuously that President Rawlings does not apply the principles he talks about to himself…Kufuor is not an angel…Corruption occurs in every government but you do not look at his negatives alone,” he pointed out on ‘Kokrokoo’”.

Alfred was of the view that nobody “can really look at Kufuor and his administration and say that he failed; I doubt it. I think he succeeded; it doesn’t mean he did not commit serious mistakes; we are all humans”.

According to him, former President Rawlings; instead of lambasting President Kufuor “could have even wished him a belated happy birthday since he made those comments a day after his immediate successor had celebrated his birthday…Sometimes he goes too far and it becomes very difficult; what he said does not carry any weight and so we will just let it go”.
