Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour relations Baba Jamal says former President Rawlings gave the NDC “a new lease of life” with his address at the 8th Congress of the ruling party in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
According to him, Mr Rawlings’ address was reconciliatory and inspiring to delegates who converged at the Baba Yara sports stadium to elect new national executives for the party.
“He has given us a new lease of life and everybody here today can testify in that,” the former deputy local government minister told Starr News in Kumasi.
He added: “He (Rawlings) is telling us to start afresh and he made a profound statement that if we are united within, no enemy bigger from outside can defeat us”.
He dismissed rumours that the allegiance of the new executives tilt towards the former military leader rather than the President.
In his view, all the individuals elected by the delegates are people who have worked hard for the party and deserve to win their respective position.
