A member of the government’s communications team, Samuel George Nartey says the party founder, Jerry John Rawlings has heeded the call of God hence his return to the campaign trail of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Jerry John Rawlings, who has been a critic of the ruling party for the past three years under late President Mills, earlier this week announced that he would be joining the campaign trail of John Mahama as he seeks the mandate of Ghanaians in the December 7 polls.
Mr. Rawlings also urged disgruntled party cadres to reconcile their differences and forge ahead for an NDC victory in next month's elections.
Sam George Nartey, who was speaking on Joy FM and Multi TV’s programme Newsfile said Rawlings' sudden decision could be attributed to the “light” he (Rawlings) has seen in President Mahama over the short period he has been in charge.
“Jerry John Rawlings, for want of a better expression has heard the call of God, and has heeded and repented, and has seen the change in the NDC…today he has full comprehension of the hope in the NDC, full comprehension in the shining light in the NDC which is John Dramani Mahama…he’s seen the change, he’s seen the hope...” Sam George said.
The NDC activist added that the game of politics is about numbers and going into the December elections, the NDC would need everyone aboard to claim victory.
But Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako stated that he is not particularly surprised at the former President’s decision, adding that the only consistent thing about Mr. Rawlings is his inconsistencies.
