Alhaji Bature, Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper and staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says constant vilification and unwarranted attacks against late President John Evans Atta Mills by former President Jerry Rawlings contributed immensely to his demise.
In the estimation of Alhaji Bature, former President Mills would have been alive if the Rawlingses had patched up their differences with him.
“Rawlings vilified Professor Mills just because his wife was not happy with the man (Mills). And I can say for a fact that, the constant attacks by the Rawlingses contributed to the death of our beloved president.
… And instead of them refraining from that, they have also waged the same war against President Mahama, but this time around it will not wash,” Alhaji Bature bluntly told Adom Fm in Accra on Tuesday.
His comments come in the wake of Mrs. Rawlings responding to an earlier allegation by Alhaji Bature on the same radio station on Monday that, he (Bature) some time ago, helped Mr. Rawlings to escape jail sentence, though he could not provide details of the matter.
Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings in her responds dared Alhaji Bature to strict proof his allegation or forever hold his peace.
She revealed that in her entire political career, she had only met Bature on three occasions, and therefore, urged Ghanaians to treat Bature's allegation with the contempt it deserves.
