According to him, Anas should be hailed and not treated like an outcast - His comments follows criticisms of Anas' latest work Former President Jerry John Rawlings has lashed out at persons who have tried to rubbish the work of the investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Rawlings explained that whereas other countries are hailing Anas for his fight against corruption, he has been rendered an outcast in his own country, Ghana.

“When we had the chance, we made an outcast of our own allowing our rivals to recognise the true worth and offer him [Anas Aremeyaw Anas] such a sensitive national anti-corruption role.

What does that make of us?” he is reported by Starrfmonline to have stated.

Mr Rawlings made this remark on Monday, when he gave a speech at the 39th-anniversary durbar to mark the June 4 uprising in Accra. The event was on the theme: “Re-organising towards the core values.” Anas is yet to publicly screen a video which supposedly captures some officials within Ghana’s sports sector said to have engaged in some alleged corrupt practices.

Wednesday, June 6, 2018, has been scheduled for the premiering of the said video.
