Rawlings left a 'legacy of indiscipline' for Ghana – Akosa

Pathologist and fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, Prof Agyeman Badu Akosa, has told Radio XYZ that former President Jerry Rawlings left a legacy of indiscipline for Ghana.

The former Presidential Aspirant told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu on Wednesday that Mr Rawlings imported into civilian governance, a lot of indiscipline from both his Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) and Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) military regimes.

Mr Rawlings ruled Ghana for eleven years under the two military juntas.

He later run for President in 1992 and won two elections at the inception of the fourth Republic.

Prof Akosa says he strongly believes Ghana would have had a very clean start in her democratic dispensation had Mr Rawlings not carried himself over from military rule into civilian governance.

“I felt that if in 1992, Rawlings had not decided to join the political fray and contest to be President, Ghana would have had a clean break. But he did that and all the negatives that came with the AFRC and the PNDC, you know, the indiscipline, followed, and for me that is his legacy to this country”, Prof Akosa explained.
