Rawlings to address December 31st Revolution public lecture

Accra , Dec. 27, GNA - Former President Jerry John Rawlings and Leader of the December 31st Revolution would address a Public Lecture at 1000 hours on Wednesday, December 28, at the National Theatre in Accra to commemorate the event.

A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday by the organising committee of the celebration said the lecture is being organised by the Cadre Front of the Revolution on the theme: "Three Decades of Grassroot Participation; Its Relevance to the Current Political Dispensation."

Flt. Lt. Rawlings is billed as the Guest of Honour and Lead Speaker at the forum. Mr Paul Victor Obeng, Dr Mrs Mary Grant, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings and other dignitaries would also speak at the event.

The celebrations commenced on December 20 with a medical outreach at Bukom and Nungua in the Greater Accra Region.

On December 31 there will be the traditional route march from the El Wak Stadium through the 37 Military Hospital to the Revolutionary Square opposite the Flagstaff House, where there would be a parade and wreath laying ceremony in memory of the Fallen Heroes.
