Re: Hon. James Avedzi Weakens Politically Towards Election 2012

We have read with keen interest some scurrilous articles by an unknown person who claimed to be a member of the Ketu North Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The articles full of falsehood which sought to attack the personality of the Honorable Member of Parliament for the Ketu North Constituency, James Klutse Avedzi to create the impression that he has lost favour with his constituents are very unfortunate and must be treated with the outmost contempt that they deserve.

What is flabbergasting is the fact that, the so-called concerned member of the party (the writer) eerily changed his name in each of his articles but peddled the same falsehood throughout all his writings. In a typical cowardice manner, he failed to come out boldly because he knew the rudimentary substance of his articles was nothing but a diabolic plan which the writer thinks will work towards removing the hardworking MP from office. We are very much aware of the grand agenda by some people, both within and outside the NDC who in pursuit of their parochial interest want to paint Hon Avedzi as a failure contrary to what is really on the grounds. Such characters are living in delusion because we the people of Ketu North are happy with our MP.

It is indeed difficult to come to terms with the obvious unintelligible conclusion that the fact that a supposed NPP member won in the district assembly elections in the MP’s electoral area is enough to say the MP has lost touch with the people. Every Ghanaian knows that the local election is non-partisan. We are voters in the said electoral area and events prior to and after the elections clearly showed that the MP had not favoured any particular candidate. We should rather commend him for his neutrality. The MP has good relations with the victor in the election.

Again, it is an insult to the NDC delegates in the Ketu North constituency to say that their votes are bought. The Hon. MP believes in the reasoning power of the delegates and will not in any way influence them with money. The allegation that the MP said his 3 months’ salary could do the trick is ridiculous. We dare the alleger to provide evidence. It is only fair that he who alleges proves. When the MP defeated the then sitting MP, Hon. Modestus Ahiable, in 2004 in the primaries, were the delegates bribed? Hon. Avedzi has never bought votes and will never do so. He will win the heart of his people by his good works. The Ketu North Constituency has witnessed and continues to witness an unprecedented infrastructural and human resource development since Hon Avedzi assumed office. In the area of education, 800 students from second cycle and tertiary institutions have enjoyed financial succor from the MP’s common fund. Over 3000 school uniforms and exercise books have been distributed to schools in the constituency. When it comes to the area of infrastructural development, fingers can be pointed to the ongoing Akatsi-Akanu, Akatsi-Aflao road construction, the building of classroom blocks, libraries, construction of bore-holes for over 100 communities, construction of health posts and the unprecedented connection of 120 communities in the constituency to the national electricity grid. It is important to note that most of these communities are very small and remote compared to other large communities in neighbouring constituencies which are unconnected to the national electricity grid. Avevluime is a good example. A mention can also be made of the creation of about 500 jobs for the youth of the constituency. These are just few examples of the massive developmental projects the MP has undertaken so far through his instrumentality and quality leadership. These are facts that can be ascertained. Anyone who cares should just pay a visit to the constituency. In spite of all these success chalked, the MP is not carried away but continues to work more vigorously to address many more needs of the constituents. The construction of Abor- Xevi, Avalavi- Kave roads have began and plans are far advanced for the construction of Tadzewu-Dekpor, Dekpor-Adzortsi, Agorve Junction- Devego, Ehi to Penyi roads. The Penyi town drainage project will also be awarded soon.

Considering the aforementioned, it will be ungrateful for anyone to refer to the Hon MP as careless. If these tremendous achievements are what Mr Dzaka and his pay masters consider carelessness, then we want more!

We would like to put it to Mawuena Dzaka (if that is really his name) that it is elements like him that are destroying the party. It is people like him who feel they should forever be in power and when the good people of Ketu North rejected them, it leaves a sour grape in their mouth and they are bent on destroying the NDC in the Constituency. We are aware of their grand agenda and this is only one of the calculated attempts to tarnish the hard won reputation of the Hon. MP. They should know that what will destroy the NDC in the Ketu North is not the unfounded alleged “issues raised in the article about Prof Kofi Awoonor” nor the Regional Minister nor Mr. Henry Ametepe but rather the writer and his cohort greedy and parochial interest.

We would like to finally submit that the NDC is greater than any individual and will live forever. The Hon. MP will retain the seat and he is not hallucinating as Dzaka would want us to believe. He will retain the seat because of his good works. The Ketu North NDC delegates will not be dissuaded by this vile propaganda from people like Mawuena. They will vote for him because Hon. Avedzi represents unity and development. Nothing more could be cited for the two consecutive defeat of Mr. Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, a deputy regional minister and later a regional minister in the erstwhile Kufour administration by Hon. Avedzi than unity.

We urge the honourable MP not to be swayed by the actions of perfidious persons like the so- called Mawuena but remain focused on delivering the better Ghana agenda for the people of Ketu North and Ghana as a whole through his professional handling of financial matters on the floor of Parliament. We are proud of you Honourable MP.

LONG LIVE GHANA! LONG LIVE KETU NORTH NDC!! LONG LIVE HON. AVEDZI!!!
