Aduman (Ash), Nov 08, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, has stated that the 2006 national budget to be presented in a few days time would help to accelerate public works.
He said the budget that was hitherto read at the beginning of the year delayed development projects and programmes.
Mr Owusu-Ansah was explaining the preparation and execution of the national budget at Aduman in the Kwabre District on Monday. He said when the budget is read, it would enable parliament to debate it fully so that by the time Parliament rises in December, all the necessary legislations would have been passed to pave way for the active commencement of public works early next year.
Addressing students and staff of Aduman Secondary School Mr Owusu-Ansah, who is the Member of Parliament for Kwabre West, urged the students to eschew laziness, waywardness and to concentrate on their books.
He told them to accept what the nation had provided for them in the school and work harder so that the facilities provided would not go into the drain.
Mr Owusu-Ansah said he had earmarked 80 million cedis from his share of the MP's Common Fund for the provision of a mechanized borehole in the school to end the perennial water problem facing the school. Mr Martin Yaw Mensah, Headmaster of the school told the MP that the school was going to celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
