Most Reverend John Bonaventue Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has advised Ghanaians to rededicate their lives to God and eschew selfishness and greed, which has plundered the country into corruption.
He said Ghana’s development largely hinges on citizens ability to practicalise the tenants of Christian teachings by embracing the culture of hard work and patriotism, honesty, service and love for all.
Leading the congregation clad in dark attire through a solemn Eucharistic Celebration to rekindle the crucifixion of Jesus, at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, Most Rev Kwofie charged Ghanaians to be committed to their work just as Jesus Christ discharge his ordained mission of saving mankind.
As part of reliving the Passion of Christ, the Archbishop through the Catholic practical practices walked the congregants through the journey of the crucifixion from the garden of Gethsemane, betrayal, enduring the humiliation, hanging on the cross through to his burial.
The service mass was accompanied by prayers as part of efforts create the conducive environment for the congregation to rededicate their lives.
He urged them to let their hearts be comforted because Jesus Christ went through the dehumanizing and humiliating process on the Cross for the sins of mankind.
Most Rev Kwofie said there was the need for Christians to reflect on their lives and make the passion of Christ bring hope to the vulnerable in society and also serve as a foundation of faith and victory over death.
He said God loves mankind, adding; "That is why he came to die for our sins and though Christians living now were not there at the time through Baptism we are transformed and we are expected to live lives worthy emulation."
