Reform declines to join Kufuor?s govt

THE National Reform Party (NRP) has said it will not join President John Agyekum Kufuor?s government .

? We will not abandon our own vision and politics to implement that of the NPP since it represents different social interests, policies and priorities,? it said .

This was contained in a statement signed by the General Secretary of the party, Mr Kyeretwie Opoku in Accra yesterday.

The NRP, according to the party, stated that it would not surrender its independence as a party, stressing that would not further the cause of democracy or good governance in the country.

? Rather, our task is to correct our own political and organisational weaknesses and build a strong party that can offer day to day leadership in the struggles of ordinary Ghanaians for development and democracy. This is the only way we can provide a real alternative to both the NDC and the NPP,? it said.

The statement also denied that the Minister designate for Manpower and Development, Mrs Cecilia Bannerman is a member of the party.

?We would like to correct this information. Mrs Bannerman is not a member of Reform. As far as we know, the honourable lady is a member of the NPP,? the statement said.
