Reinstate suspended DCE for Denkyira-Obuasi - Kennedy Agyepong

Kennedy Agyepong wants suspended Denkyira-Obuasi DCE reinstated Kennedy Agyepong wants suspended Denkyira-Obuasi DCE reinstated

Kennedy Agyepong, New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Assin Central Constituency wants the suspended District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Denkyira West in the Central Region reinstated.

“I am appealing to the President to reinstate the DCE for Denkyira-Obuasi because whatever he said was true”, he disclosed on Adom TV.

It would be recalled that District Chief Executive (DCE) Daniel Appianin who was less than a month in office was suspended indefinitely over comments supporting the mob action against the late Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama.

Daniel Appianin was reported to have claimed the deceased soldier was leading his colleagues in protecting Chinese Illegal miners contrary to reports he was at Denkyira-Obuasi to guard against the activities of illegal mining.

According to him, the lynched military man was rather the head of a military detachment in the area which is protecting a group of Chinese nationals who are illegally mining gold in the Upper Wassa Forest.

The Chinese, he said despite having a license to prospect for gold in the forest are rather engaged in illegal mining and are heavily protected by the military who prevents residents of the community to enter the forest.

“There is a large number of military personnel protecting the Chinese that the lynched soldier is alleged to be part of it, in fact he is said to be the leader…am shocked they are not briefing you very well but rather claiming they are here to fight galamseyers…,” he said.

“He was the leader of the soldiers protecting the Chinese galamseyers, anyone can confirm it from the police hierarchy here, and the BNI as well…,” he alleged further.

His comments sought to justify the mob action incurring the wrath of the military high command and the citizenry who demanded his immediate dismissal subsequently leading to his suspension.

But the NPP firebrand on Tuesday maintained that what the embattled DCE said were right and must be reinstated.
