A former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, has entreated Ghanaians not to vote for the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama (NDC) in the pending general elections.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show on August 7, 2024, he criticised John Mahama’s language, noting that it does not befit the status of a former president.

“The former president’s language and actions do not reflect his status. One might question if he learnt any lessons from his presidency. To whom much is given, much is expected. If you have been the president of this country you need to be circumspect in what you say, you need to season your language.

“How can he make claims that when the NDC is in power, there would be no forms of violence in the country? If he says that it opens the door for fringe elements in the country to take it up and incite violence, he is suggesting that it is only when the NPP is in power that the country witnesses such.”

He added that “If the fringe elements incite violence based on his comments and one person loses his life, has he spoken well as a former president, so based on this Ghanaians must reject the former president in all his forms and in all his manners.”
