Rejoinder: Minority raises concerns over stimulus package to Royal Fiesta Hotel

Fiesta Royale Hotel Fiesta Royale Hotel

This law firm represents Fiesta Royale Hotel, and writes on the instructions of its Managing Director.

Our attention has been drawn to the above captioned story published on the website of GhanaWeb on Wednesday 19th December 2018. We find the contents of the said news publication on your website untrue and defamatory.

For the avoidance of doubt, Fiesta Royale Hotel has not received any stimulus package from the Government of Ghana or the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI). Therefore, the claims in the said publication, quoting Hon. Yusif Sulemana, NDC MP for Bole Bamboi, to the effect that “a company like Fiesta Royale was given an amount of money” under the stimulus package is palpably false, reckless and untrue.

The truth of the matter is that on or about May 2017, Fiesta Royale Hotel, like many local businesses, applied to MOTI for a stimulus package to enable it expand its conference facilities and also venture into vegetable farming with some of its food suppliers. The facility was approved after some months, but the Company decided to discontinue with the facility and informed MOTI accordingly. Till date, Fiesta Royale Hotel has not received any funds from MOTI under the said stimulus package.

We consider the said publication, without our input, defamatory and reckless. Without prejudice to any claims and rights of our client, we write to demand publication of this Rejoinder on your website. We expect GhanaWeb to give this Rejoinder the same prominence as given to the original false story.

We also have the firm instructions of our client to demand an apology from you. The said apology should be published on your news portal and be given the same prominence as given to the false story.

We look forward to your immediate action. Thank you. [SGD] Nana Yaa Nartey ESQ.
