Remain united for the task ahead - Prof Botwey to NDC supporters

The chair of the fact-finding committee of the elections outcomes of the NDC Professor Kwesi Botwey has tasked supporters of the party to “stand firm” and remain united” as measures are been put in place to make build a formidable NDC for the 2020 elections.

Professor Botwey said the party needs to identify all the factors that led to its defeat in the 2016 elections and must be able to deal with all those challenges to put the NDC in a better position to clinch power again.

Speaking at a get-together party organised by the Progressive Alliance Media Communicators ( P.A.M.C ), a volunteer group of the party, the former Finance Minister stressed the need for members to remain disciplined and be conscious in their respective areas and not to fall into the trap of the NPP that may degenerate into legal disputes.

“Stand firm, remain united and focus on the task ahead to patch up the loopholes towards a securing a stable future of our party,” he said.

“We also have to guard against being discouraged and being dispirited especially with the onslaught of attacks from the supporters of the NPP.”

“It is our belief that we will come back to power and the processes start from our own selves. We must avoid complacency, one of the major factor to our defeat.”

The event, which also saw the presence of the former Member of Parliament of Adentan, Hon. Adu Asare and some other dignitaries of the party , was on the theme dubbed; “Using social media/community Communication on a effective manner to rebranding and re-engineering the base”.

Professor Boytwey also advised to supporters to remain peaceful and rather report anyone who tries to trample on their rights to the police or the relevant law enforcement agency as that has been the true nature of the NDC.

Strategic ‘cyberians’ re-branding

According to a survey by the Progressive Alliance Media Communicators ( P.A.M.C ), one major failures of the NDC during the 2016 election campaign was the way and manner in which the party was projected on social media.

Jerry John Mensah (JJ), a member of the group emphasized the need to make maximum use of social media to promote and rebrand the NDC and to avoid using it to inadvertently promote the opposition.

“We lost the social media war it to the opposition despite having the men to aid us win”, he said.

“There a lot of things we did wrong as far as marketing the party on social media was concerned.we did not use it fully to our advantage, but moving forward, I expect our young and dynamic ‘cyberians’ to re-strategise an take absolute advantage of the rapidly growing social media landscape for the benefit of the NDC.”

The party after losing the 2016 election has formed a 13-member committee to investigate the cause of the party’s defeat.

Chaired by a Former Minister of Finance and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Kwesi Botchwey, the committee is expected to present its finding in the month of March.
