Dr. Emmanuel Kwesi Amoah, an esteemed alumnus of La Saint Paul Anglican School, has given back to his alma mater by donating a state-of-the-art, fully furnished computer lab.

The project, which was initiated two years ago, was in collaboration with his mates from the 1987-year group, including Maxwell Nunoo, Ashford Aryee Ababio, and Frank Tetteh.

At the commissioning and handover of the computers to the school, Dr. Amoah shared his personal journey, recalling how he once walked barefoot to school due to financial hardships. He urged the students to embrace hard work and resilience, assuring them that persistence is key. He said if he had focused on his challenges and given up, he wouldn’t have been able to become a dentist.

“Growing up, we didn’t get the opportunities you have today. We walked to school without shoes but never gave up. We didn’t have computers – only a small library with about 20 books, and we often had to walk to Osu Children’s Library for resources. If I can be this today, you can also do it. I expect that you will also never give up. You have to study, work hard, and let God be your everything. And as you grow, remember your school,” he told the students.

According to him, "We initially planned to donate around 30 computers, but due to space constraints, we had to scale it back. However, this is just the beginning, and we hope to expand the facility as we go along."

Meanwhile, Dr. Amoah has urged old students and other philanthropists to assist in funding the school’s other needs, including completing the school building for La Anglican ‘2’ Junior High School.

The Headmistress of the school, Miss Olivia Tetteh, expressed her deep gratitude for the generous contributions made by the alumni and emphasized how this donation would significantly enhance the educational facilities, allowing for improved resources and programs for current students.

She promised to ensure that the computers are well-maintained and fully utilized.

"We are deeply thankful to our former students for their contribution and dedication to the school. This ICT lab will significantly enhance our students’ digital literacy and computational skills, giving them access to quality education. We will utilize this facility to its full potential," she averred.
