Renowned Ghanaian actor robbed at residence

Sakumono, March. 7, GNA- Mr Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, a renowned Ghanaian Actor was on Thursday, attacked by eight unidentified armed men at his Regimanuel residence at Community 19, Larshibi.

The robbers carrying guns and cutlasses with three wearing mask broke into Mr Ansah's house through the kitchen door on March 6 at about 0130 hours, when he together with the wife, mother and daughter were asleep.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Simon Afenyadu, Sakumono District Police Commander briefing the press at Sakumono said, the perpetrators aged between 20 and 32 robbed the actor of one laptop computer, five mobile phones, five wrist watches, jewellery and GH¢860 cash and an unregistered Toyota Camry car.

DSP Afenyadu said the robbers however abandoned the car and fled on foot upon seeing the joint police military patrol team, who chased them after receiving information from the Community 18 police about the robbery.

Commenting on other crimes recorded on the same day, the Sakumono District Commander said six unidentified men stormed two houses belonging Mr Constance Adzei and Mr Raymond Djanboa at their Regimanuel Estate at about 0200 hours and robbed them of two mobile phones and GH¢700.

DSP Afenyadu said in another case, Mr David Agyiry and Ms Yaa Atse, who were resting at the Sakumono Mighty beach on the same day at about 1930 hours were attacked by four men.

He said Samuel Anthony, one of the culprits, who pointed a loaded locally manufactured gun at the two victims, attempted fleeing when people by spotted him and the gang attacking the two. Anthony was however arrested and handed over to the police while his accomplices fled.

DSP Afenyadu said Anthony and his accomplices, who were armed with cutlasses robbed the two victims of their mobile phones and GH¢80. The Sakumono District Commander has called on residents to form watch dog committees in their neighbourhood to help curb the rampant robbery incidents.
