The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has challenged the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to organize an event on a weekday to compare attendance with the numbers recorded at the NDC's national campaign launch on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang, a member of the NPP communications team and former constituency chairman for New Juabeng North Constituency in the Eastern Region, raised concerns about the turnout at the NDC’s event.

Responding to claims by political analysts that the large attendance was not motivated by monetary inducements, Mr. Agyemang questioned the authenticity of the support.

Speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Otafrigya Kaayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Mr. Agyemang challenged the NDC to replicate the turnout on a working day.

He argued that the numbers would likely be lower if the event were held during the week, suggesting that many attendees were simply idling at home with nothing else to do.

“There is no doubt the NDC has about six million supporters, but the numbers on a working day will not be the same as those seen on Saturday,” he stated.

Mr Agyemang emphasized that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s genuine support in the region is reflected by the large attendance at his weekday engagements during his tour, contrasting this with the NDC's weekend event.

Mr Agyemang criticized political analysts who attributed the high attendance at the NDC’s Jubilee Park event to the party's call for change, arguing that the turnout was not a true representation of genuine support.

He reiterated that holding an event on a weekday would be a more accurate measure of the NDC's support base.
