Republic Hall of KNUST elects new executive

Kumasi, Nov. 19, GNA - Mr. Stephen Adofo-Otchere,a third-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was on Friday elected the president of the Republic Hall at an election conducted in Kumasi.

He polled 383 votes to beat Mr Kofi Sarpong and Mr Joseph Antwi Baafi who had 185 and 17 votes respectively.

Mr Emmanuel Bentum Annan was elected vice-president, Miss Shaila Somuah-Wadie, general secretary with the position of financial secretary going to Miss Boakye Debora Abla Dzorgbenyni.

Mr John Paul Banchani was elected as affiliates affairs co-ordinator, Mr Christopher Ackon-Mensah as sports chairman, Mr Andrews Opoku-Bonsu, judicial committee chairman, Mr Bernard Asuming, entertainment chairman, Mr Henry Osei Yaw, editor in-chief, while the position of electoral commission chairman went to Mr Mahama Abdul-Aziz. According to Mr Felix Owusu, the electoral officer, the new executive would be sworn into office at a later date.
