Resign or be humiliated, party supporters tell Chairman Adjei

Credible information emanating from the head quarters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Kokomlemle in Accra has it that the National Chairman of the party Dr. Kwabena Adjei has lost interest in the party leadership.

Sources has it that Dr. Kwabena Adjei’s attitude towards arty activities has dwindled significantly especially after the 2012 general elections.

‘He no more attended functions, he doesn’t seem to be interested in the 2016 elections, he doesn’t come to office as he used to, in general terms our chairman is disenchanted,’’ the source said.

Later this year the NDC would be going to congress to either retain or elect new executives to lead the party into the 2016 general elections. So far, the coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Sir Kofi Portuphy and former ambassador to Malaysia Daniel Abodakpi have all declared their intention and launched their campaigns in their bid to chair the largest political party in Ghana, NDC.

Some security men and drivers including members of the inner circle at the party headquarters have told me on plea of anonymity that the incumbent chairman might not contest his position, citing various reasons to buttress their stance.

Among other things, they alleged that Dr. Kwabena Adjei is not the chairman they used to know, he is not inspiring, has neglected party activities to the extent that party structures aren’t working, lost focus and above all jettisoned the party headquarters after creating a lot of mess.

I have heard the chairman whispering to some friends and cronies that ‘’he was tired with NDC politics and needed a reprieve.

Whatever you did people won’t appreciate, they think I had money tree in my room to dish out. I have nothing and I owe no one anything period. If they can do it they should go and contest and lead the party. They thought it’s easy to win two presidential and parliamentary elections, if they want me out fine. I am tired with all these …...’’ Andani stated

Some supporters of the party have also hinted their displeasure at how Dr. Kwabena Adjei is managing the affairs of the ruling party and are calling for his exit.

So far, the incumbent chairman has neither declared his intention nor launched his campaign to contest or otherwise giving credence to the displeasure the party supporters.

Most of the people I spoke to be it at the part office or the constituency level were of the view that the current chairman of the NDC should resign his position or be humiliated at the congress should he contest.
