Retired postmaster commits suicide

Agona Nsaba (C/R), April 9, GNA - A 70 year-old retired Postmaster has been found hanging in his room at Agona Nsaba in the Central Region. The late Alfred Banson who was an organist of the Methodist Church in the town was found hanging from the beams for the ceiling of his building by his wife.

Inspector Florian Antos Acquah, Station Officer of the Nsaba Police Station, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased was in the house with his wife, Madam Yaa Buawoah in the morning at about 10.30 AM on the day of the incident when she left for the farm for foodstuff for their lunch.

According to Inspector Acquah on her return she could not find the key to their room and suspecting that her husband had not returned from a visit to one of the Church elders asked a tenant whether he was in the house.

Inspector Acquah said the lady responded in the affirmative and Madam Yaa Buawoah pushed the door open only to find the late Banson hanging and she raised the alarm.

The body had been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital for autopsy, the Police Officer said, adding that a similar incident was reported at Mensakrom, near Agona Swedru last two weeks.
