Return of alleged killer puts fear in Anon residents

Suhum (E/R), March 23, GNA - The residents of Anom, a farming village near Asuboi in the Suhum/Kraboa/Coalter District are said to be living in fear after the resurfacing of a man alleged to have murderer his wife and son.

Kwaku Dzila, 40, the suspect, was said to have killed his wife, Adwoa Dzila, 32 and beheaded his son, Kpoga Dzila, 15, placed the corpses in a cocoa sack and dumped them in a pit latrine. A spokesman for the residents has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate why the accused was released, alleging that no court had tried him.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Suhum on Monday, Ms Juliana Mante, who claimed to live in the same house with Dzila, alleged that fear had griped the entire community while commercial activities were at a stand still.

She further alleged that the accused had since his arrival a week ago, moved from village to village insulting and threatening the people. The accused, who is said to be a Togolese, was arrested in Togo after the crime where he was allegedly sending his son's head and brought back to Ghana and was thought to be in the hands of the authorities.

The police at Suhum, however, denied any knowledge of the release of the suspect. 23 March 05
