Rev Minister bans evangelist from holding activities in his church

Nsuta (Ash), May 27, GNA - The Very Reverend Samuel Dadzie, Circuit Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church at Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District, has ordered Mr Christopher Opoku-Agyemang, an evangelist of the church at Beposo, to stop all his activities in the church, describing them as at variance with the doctrines of the church. Mr Opoku-Agyemang is a member of the church who has been holding prayer and deliverance sessions in the church.

Confirming earlier reports that he ordered Mr Emmanuel Karikari, caretaker of the Beposo church, to interrupt and stop one of such sessions being held outside the manse on May 21, the Superintendent Minister told the GNA that he instructed the caretaker to switch off the electricity and ordered participants to send back plastic chairs after which he locked the church house.

When Mr Opoku-Agyemang was contacted he confirmed the action of the caretaker and expressed surprise at his behaviour on that day as well as the role played by the Minister. He said he is a trained evangelist in the church and was known by the Superintendent Minister before he relocated from Banko branch of the church to Beposo in January.

He said since he joined the Beposo congregation, his role as an evangelist had attracted many people to the church, adding that he has not done anything contrary to the Methodist doctrine. Some of the church members who talked to the GNA on condition of anonymity expressed surprise about events in the church and appealed to the leaders of the church to intervene to bring peace and understanding in the church.
