Rev Minta calls on Ghanaians to pay their taxes

Subriso (Ash), Oct 23, GNA - The Very Reverend John Wilmot Baiden, the Superintendent Minister of Tepa circuit of the Methodist Church of Ghana, has called on Ghanaians to pay their taxes to enable the government to generate enough revenue to develop the country. Rev Baiden was preaching last Friday to end a three-day crusade of the Methodist Church held at Subriso near Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano North District.

The crusade, which had as its theme, "Trust God in Everything" was attended by the faithful from Subriso, Odumase, Mfante and Siawkrom. He said it is the duty of every good citizen to declare his income honestly to the appropriate and lawful agencies and to satisfy all tax obligations as enshrined in Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution. Quoting from Matthew 22: 15-21, Rev Baiden charged Christians to reflect on the statement on taxes made by Jesus and ensure that they render their financial obligations not only to the church but to the state as well.

He told them to aim at righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, steadfastness and gentleness, which are essential to bring about peace and unity in the country.

The Rev Minister advised the people to register with the District Health Insurance Scheme to ensure qualitative and affordable health care in the district.
