"Reverend Minister" on remand for stealing

Hohoe, May 25, GNA - David Brightman, a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) chairman, popularly known as "Reverend Minister" has been remanded in prison custody by a Hohoe Circuit Court for allegedly stealing. Brightman pleaded not guilty to the charge and would re-appear in court on June 1.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Benjamin Dadzie, prosecuting, told the court that the suspect was elected as Chairman of the PTA of the Hohoe Municipal Experimental School while the complainant, Mr Atsu Bosco, was the head teacher and a member. He said during the 2008/2009 academic period, PTA executives caused an audit into the finances of the PTA and detected a shortfall of GH¢ 1,400, which Brightman was asked to refund.

Mr Dadzie said a case of embezzlement was brought against the suspect, leading to his arrest on September 13, 2010. He said suspect broke his promise after he had negotiated with the Police to give him time to pay up. Brightman was, consequently, re-arrested on May 12, this year, and charged with the offence. Meanwhile, he has refunded GH¢ 200, which the court ordered to be given.
