Review Asserts Declaration -CDD

The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) has called for a review of the public office holders assets declaration regime to make it more relevant to the promotion of democracy in the country.

The nation, it said, ?continues to live with a public office holders asset disclosure regime that is inaccessible and non-verifiable thereby lacking in credibility.?

This was contained in a report on the state of governance in Ghana in 2005 released by the centre in Accra last Friday. Under the current provision, public service holders when elected into office only declare their own assets excluding that of their family members.

The report dubbed, ?Democracy Watch? is the association?s quarterly newsletter on the performance of governance in the country.
