Ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is amazed at the rivalry that exists between Sudanese giants Al Hilal and Al Merreikh.

Hilal and Merreikh are the two most powerful teams in the North African country.

And the 55-year-old, who handles a relative smaller side Al Khartoum, is thrilled with the enmity between the two sides.

“The whole Nation is divided into two, part supports Hilal and part support Merreikh,” he told TV3.

“Even my Club the players and management are either with Hilal or Merreikh.

“The President of the country support Hilal and the vice support Merreikh and if you look at the League table you will relize that many of the names they add either Hilal or Merreikh.

“Both teams are also doing very well if you look at the last Champions League both were able to reach the Semi finals which shows that they are really doing well.”

The former Black Stars coach has received offers from the two stellar clubs after guiding Al Khartoum to fourth in his debut.
