Road Fund: NDC left GH¢600 million – Inusah Fuseini

Alhaji Inusah Fuseini Alhaji Inusah Fuseini

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has denied claims by the Minister for Roads and Transport, Anthony Karbo that the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) GH¢1.5 billion loan they contracted from the United Bank for Africa into the Road Fund has been seized by the bank.

The lawmaker said that, “It is totally false that we took 1.5 billion from the UBA. It is also false to say that we have encumbered the Road Fund in such a way that monies do not now come to the Road Fund.”

He explained that, ”Monies don’t come to the Road Fund because of the policy that the NPP government introduced in the 2017 budget.” He told Class FM.

Mr Fuseini stressed that the Mahama-led administration left Gh¢600 million in the fund at the time they were leaving power as of January 2017 in the UBA account and thus it was disgraceful for Anthony Karbo to say that they left no money in the account when they [NPP] came into office.

He added that, Parliament gave them the go ahead to secure a loan of Gh¢1.5 billion but his party [National Democratic Congress (NDC)] took only Gh¢1.2 billion.

According to him, he has all the documents and evidence respecting to the transactions available at the Ministry.
